Well battled today boys, after a slow start, we got to grips with a tough pitch and gradually started to get control of the game. Full credit to Poulton they pushed us all the way, and we're denied on more than one occasion with some fine saves from George. Great team effort, with some outstanding performances all over the pitch. .............Onward to the Semis :)))))

On a calm, over cast but fairly pleasant afternoon, the match against Poulton kicked off and both teams got straight into battle. It became apparent very quickly that this match was going to be a very hard fought affair. Initially both sides seemed very equally matched but as the game progressed Rangers began to take control of proceedings to a large degree and the ball was being pressed up towards the Poulton goal with increasing regularity. Rangers then started to press home their attacks on the Poulton goal and to his credit, their goalie made some fine saves but eventually the constant pressure paid off and Jacob C was able to make a nice cross from the right wing which eventually found its way to a front of goal Will who was able to send the ball home with a sound kick, into the back of the Poulton net to give Rangers their first and hard earned goal of the game, great start ! Rangers 1 - Poulton 0

The match kicked off again and it was straight back to business, the game continued in the same pattern with both sides battling hard all the way but with Rangers always dominating to a degree. Once again the continued pressure applied by Rangers on there opponents did the business when another attack on the Poulton goal ended with Adam T powering the ball into the back of the Poulton net with a fine kick from the right hand wing. Rangers 2 - Poulton 0.

The match kicked off once more and it was more of the same with Rangers continuing to keep the pressure up on Poulton. It was not a one sided affair by any means and Poulton did manage to counter attack on a good few occasions but anything that did get passed the pretty solid Rangers defence was taken care of by Jakob H who kept goal soundly during the first half of the match today. The rest of the first half was played out with no further goals scored by either side when the first half whistle sounded. Rangers 2 - Poulton 0.

The second half of the game kicked off and both teams locked horns again, Poulton appeared to of found a greater sense of urgency in their play but despite this the Rangers side were holding solid. After a short period of play Rangers were able to press home another attack on the Poulton net which ended with Alex potting the ball with a nice kick from central of the goal. Rangers 3 - Poulton 0.

Rangers were becoming increasingly confident as their lead extended and continued to attack the Poulton goal with regularity, despite this Poulton were at no stage a spent force and they were able to launch off a good few shots at the Rangers goal during the second half, fortunately all the shots were very ably stopped by George who had replaced Jakob H for the second half of the game. Rangers continued to apply pressure on the Poulton side and eventually Jacob C was able to launch off a good shot which found the back of the net to give Rangers their fourth goal of the game. Rangers 4 - Poulton 0.

As the match restarted and the final stages of the game were played out Rangers fifth and final goal of the match came when Reece made a good long pass to Johnny who was nicely placed centrally front of goal, Johnny took the ball forward and then fired off a solid shot which found the back of the net. Rangers 5 - Poulton 0.

The last few minutes of the match were played out but no more goals came for either team as the whistle sounded to end the match. Rangers 5 - Poulton 0.

Well done boys, well done, another great TEAM performance against a very physically strong and determined side. Every team member fought his corner and showed his worth today battling hard all the way. All of you are proving to be very brave and capable team players. Poulton did their best but you fended off all they could throw at you, great stuff. You may end up being known as the Power Rangers if you continue like this. A big well done to Adam Bowker and George as today's STAR PLAYERS. Keep up the good work !
