Blackpool Rangers vs Staining

The match against Staining kicked off on not a particularly pleasant evening with a strong westerly blowing down the length of the pitch. Both teams were quickly out of the blocks and for a while the match seemed to be a fairly even affair with both teams attacking and countering in roughly equal proportions.

About half way into the first half Rangers seemed to get a grip on proceedings and up a gear or so. Whilst both side were able to attack each others goals Rangers were edging ahead in terms of possession and numbers of attacks on their opponents net. It only seemed a matter of time before the ball would find its way into the back of the Staining net and eventually the pressure paid off when Jacob Mullen made a cracker of a shot from the edge of the 18 yard box which saw the ball bounce of the crossbar and into the net. All credit to the young linesman who flagged the shot as a goal, whilst the goal was a close call, he made a clear and decisive judgement whilst under pressure, great sportsmanship. Rangers 1 - Staining 0.

The match kicked off again but no further goals were scored by either team before the first half whistle sounded. Rangers 1 -  Staining 0.

The second half kicked off with a few subs brought on and it was straight down to business both teams clearly wanted a good result from the match but it was Rangers who started to pull ahead. The ball was increasingly being forced up towards the Staining goal and before long Danny made a great shot from central of the Staining net. The ball powered into the back of the net to give Rangers their second goal of the game. Rangers 2 - Staining 0.

The match kicked off again and once again Rangers were the more dominant side although Staining were still capable of counter attacking against Rangers if allowed to. As Staining launched an attack of their own on the Rangers net one of their players was brought down. The referee deemed the tackle unfair and he awarded Staining a free kick which resulted in a goal for the visitors to give them their first goal of the game. Rangers 2 - Staining 1

The game kicked off again and Rangers continued to dominate to a larger degree and once again began to pressurise the Staining team. The pressure eventually cracked open the Staining defences once again and Jacob Cheeseman was able to let go a good shot from left of the Staining net. The ball found its target and put Rangers into a stronger lead. Rangers 3 - Staining 1.

The match continued with Rangers still holding the edge over Staining and with some five minutes or so left to play Rangers were awarded a right hand corner. Jacob Hurst sprinted up from defence into the goal area and just managed to get in front of the goal as the corner sailed in to the goal area. Jacob got his head to the ball and nutted the ball into the back of the Staining net to claim not only a great forth goal of the game for Rangers, but also, what was to be the last goal of the season for Rangers as no further goals were scored by either team when the final whistle sounded a few minutes later ! Rangers 4 - Staining 1
