Match Reports Versus South Shore 13th March Game 1 Team: Henry (GK), Louis, Ben, Leon, Harrison, Mitchell, Max. Subs: Josh F, Josh B, Danny It took Rangers 5mins to settle into this game, but once they did it was mostly one way. Mitchell put a cross in from the right and the recently reliable goal scorer Max missed, fortunately he was to get more chances. South Shore then put one of their only chances wide and it was the kick-start we needed. Max then had a one-on-one with the keeper but put it wide again. Harrison then took a free kick and, at last, Max followed it in for 1-0 on 9 minutes. Louis and Ben were solid at the back. Mitchell passed to Leon and keeper saved. Then a brilliant one-two Leon and Harrison. Harrison scored to make it 2-0. Harrison then hit a long shot after Ben's pass to make it 3-0. Max had a shot saved and Harrison missed his chance for a hat-trick as the ball went over the bar. Half time 3-0. Second half saw Josh Fowler come on for Ben. Blackpool got a corner which Leon took. It was defended away but picked up again brilliantly by Leon who slotted home, near post. 4-0. Henry then made a great save. Josh B and Danny then came on for Leon and Max. Rangers continued to press but couldn't get the ball into the net. South Shore had a rare moment in front of goal and this time the impressive Henry couldn't get to it. 4-1. The new-look team pressed forward again and Joshua F rounded off a good passing move with a great goal. 5-1. Game 2 Team: Alex (GK), Cameron, Michael, Joel, Billy, Alex, Harry Subs: Zac, Kazek, Toby Rangers started strong with the early chances falling to Harry. He scooped one over the bar that looked easier to score and put another one wide. But this was to be Harry's day as he hit a hat-trick. His first goal came after a brilliant passing move involving all the midfielders. Billy scored a goal to make it 2-0 after some good work on the wings by Joel and Alex. Michael had two shots but were both wide. The defence kept South Shore out and the very impressive Alex Ross made sure that South Shore were not going to get a glimpse of his goal. First half 2-0. Second half. South Shore came out fighting and quickly won a corner. The clearance led to a quick break-away but Billy's shot was saved. Harry hit the post. Michael was switched to midfield. Zac came into defence. Joel was moved to the right wing and scored to make it 3-0. Toby came on for Joel. South Shore kicked off and Harry nipped in and scored a brilliant solo effort. 4-0. Michael and Billy worked well together to set Harry up for his hat trick. 5-0. Harry was replaced by Kazek. With all the changes the team still pressed but unfortunately Toby's shot went wide. Michael hit a sweet left foot shot and scored to make it 6-0, and to round off a good day's work, Toby, who had put his previous miss behind him, found the back of the net with the side of his foot. First goal for Toby. Well done. 7-0.
Versus Poulton Town 6th March Game 1 Team: Henry (GK), Brett, Louis, Leon, Harrison, Mitchell, Max (Subs: Ben) A much anticipated game against a very good side. It was an even start with all the play in the middle of the park but on the 10th minute Harrison crossed the ball and Max managed to get his foot on the end of it to make it 0-1. Another chance fell to Harrison after Max blocked a clearance and crossed it over but Harrison put it wide. Poulton then had a chance but it was cleared by Mitchell. Brett and Louis were solid at the back and managed to stop the Poulton forward play. Leon then had a shot from distance but it was wide. Harrison and Mitchell worked hard up and down the wings. Henry made a great save to keep us 0-1. Harrison got a lovely ball in the groin and was replaced by Ben. Second half - Poulton started well and were on the attack, fighting to get back into the game. This time though, they shot wide. Four minutes into the second half, we got a throw on the left-hand side. Harrison threw it, Leon crossed it and Mitchell finished it off for 0-2. Poulton were then on the charge and threw everything at us. Louis blocked, Henry saved and saved again, and eventually the pressure paid off as Poulton got a corner. The ball was swung in and ended up at the back post and in an effort to clear it, it bounced off Louis and into the goal. 1-2. Ben came back on for Harrison who got his second groin injury and got an important header away. Max had a rare chance in the last 5 minutes as he broke away but the keeper came off best this time in a one-to-one. Last few minutes was all Poulton, looking for the equaliser but an ever-impressive Brett tackled hard and the only shots produced went wide. A very good win for Blackpool. Versus Fleetwood Town 13th Feb 10 Game 1 To come Versus Layton 6th Feb 10 Game 1 Team; Henry (GK) Louis Noah Joel Leon Alex Billy. Subs Michael Mitchell Alex (GK) Josh B Ben A full squad turned out for this encounter! So lots of substitutions and position trials for the team. Rangers started well and it wasn't long before they broke through a resilient defence. After 2 attempts to get through the defence it was 3rd time lucky for Leon as he skipped through tackles, got his shot away, only to thwarted by a great save from the keeper, fortunately Billy was there for an easy tap in. Next a great through ball from the playmaker again (Leon) and Billy finished well in the corner against a very good Keeper. Leon was then injured and went for a rest. Michael came on and had a ferocious shot handled on the line ( wot no pen)! Mitchell came on for Alex. A rare attack from the opposition was broken up by two in-form defenders, Louis and Noah. Mitchell then came off with an injury and back on came Alex, who took this opportunity well with a cracking run down the right, which led to a corner. Layton could only clear their lines for a throw in. Michael launched the throw, and an athletic Joel with his back to goal, hit the goal of the day with a superb overhead kick.0-3. Just before half time Billy made his hat-trick with a great run from Alex on the right, passed inside to Joel who laid it on to Billy, for a great first half lead 0-4. Changes for the second half saw a different team. Alex made his debut in goal, defence remain the same, Ben and Joshua B came on in midfield with Leon and Alex up front. Leon had another shot saved on the line after good work from the new midfield. Alex got out wide again and provided a great ball for Ben whose shot was blocked. Leon then had a shot saved but this time Alex followed in to get a well-deserved goal 0-5. Leon and Alex worked well again with a great passing combination but Leon's shot was saved again. Ben worked well in midfield, tackling, winning important balls. Alex had another shot saved . Leon picked up the ball in midfield and with a beautiful bit of skill, left 2 players standing, passed the ball to Alex who crossed it to Ben. A brilliant header from Ben was heading for goal but was claimed by Leon as he got on the end of it, to make sure it crossed the line. 0-6. Michael and Mitchell came back on in defence to give our star defenders, Louis and Noah, a rest after a solid performance. Ben then had a brilliant run as he beat 3 players to get a shot on goal but once again the Keeper saved, this time though it was followed up again and Joshua B placed a beautiful right-footed shot past the keeper and into the corner. 0-7. The last bit of the action saw Leon come off and Joel come back on. Layton took advantage of our late changes and team disarray and broke through for a rare shot on goal that sneaked in. Final score 1-7. Game 2 Team: Thomas (GK), Cameron, Brett, Lewis, Harry, Harrison, Max (Subs: Joshua F, Kamran, Kazek, Danny) A very strong second team for Blackpool Rangers was far too much for Layton. Right from the off, an impressive Max passed a lovely ball through to Lewis who finished with ease 0-1. Max again the supplier after a good run, passed it across the goal and was finished by Harrison with his right foot into the corner.0-2. Max was having a good day as he was a foot taller than any of the defence and 10 yards quicker! Yet again he knocked the ball into space, ran on and had a left-foot shot this time, that was saved. This led to a corner which Lewis took. It curled into the goal mouth and was cleared off the line but Max was there to put it away. 0-3. Brett and Cameron were strong in defence and didn't let any balls get past them. Harry made lots of runs down the right, but the crosses were cleared and saved by the defense and keeper. Changes were made, Joshua F and Kazek came on. Kazek had a good shot saved, Joshua then showed us what he could do as he beat 2 defenders and scored superbly for 0-4. Kazek did some more good work but again his shot was saved. Harrison worked tirelessly as usual on the left side and set up chances for Josh and Kazek. Cameron also managed to get a shot in but they were all saved. Second half Changes made again. Henry in goal, Danny and Kamran midfield and Thomas up front. Lewis who was in great form today, made a brilliant run from midfield to score a good goal.0-5. Danny had some good touches and his efforts on goal were all saved. Thomas had some half-chances to score but his shots were forced wide or saved, Brett and Cameron came off to give Alex and Joshua Fowler a chance to play defence. They continued to dominate as their counterparts had done earlier. Max came back on for Thomas and was straight back in the action to score after a great pass from Lewis.0-6. Max broke through again to make it 0-7. Lewis then had one of the best runs of the day after riding a rough tackle, he took the ball through 3 defenders to score a magnificent goal, only for the ref to drag play back for a free kick. His resulting kick was saved. Harry and Harrison came back on to bring the game home. Lewis followed up a shot by Harry but put it wide. The icing on the cake was provided by the very impressive Max who scored after a goalkeeping error gifted him the goal 0-8.
Versus Kirkham 23 Jan 10 Team: Thomas (GK), Brett, Mitchell, Lewis, Harry C, Michael, Max. Subs: Cameron, Josh F This game started slowly, which is not surprising after the long break! But it wasn't long before the in-form Max hit his first goal. Although Kirkham had much possession our defenders stopped everything. Brett and Mitchell played well together and snuffed out every chance and with Thomas in goal we looked solid at the back. Mitchell got injured in a tackle and had to come off. Cameron stepped in to the battle and played exceptionally well. Max scored again twice and we were on our way! A brilliant first half hat-trick. Lewis and Michael broke a lot of the play up in midfield and supplied Harry and Max with great chances. Second half started well. It was attack, attack. attack from Blackpool Rangers! Harry scored 2 goals - the second of which was a fantastic back heel. Mitchell got in on the action after coming back on and scored a great goal. We made lots of changes to give players a chance in different positions. Joshua F tried his luck on the right wing and then was moved to centre midfield and continued to win important balls and spread the play. Lewis scored a great goal and now we were 7 to the good. With time up on the clock, Kirkham broke through and the referee ordered a dubious penalty after a great tackle from Mitchell. Kirkham scored the penalty with the last kick of the game. 7-1 to Blackpool. Outstanding.
Second game Team: Henry (GK), Louis, Noah, Joel, Leon, Harrison, Billy (Subs) Ben, Alex, Josh F Blackpool attacked from the start but couldn't find the net. Billy missed a couple of early chances and Leon's long range effort went wide. The ball wasn't getting past our half way line with Joel, Louis, Noah and Harrison winning every ball. Leon, with the ball stuck to his foot as usual, took on 2 defenders and slotted the ball home for his first goal. It was soon followed up by another strike from the right hand side over the keeper and in for his second. Billy latched on to a loose ball in the box and, at the fourth attempt, managed to get it past the lunging defence and keeper. Ben and Alex came on for Joel and Billy. Harrison was a constant supply on the left, winning the ball and supplying cross after cross after cross. Alex had half-chances but didn't score today. Ben had a brilliant first half, tackling and passing the ball superbly. Changes were made again for the second half. Kirkham started well and put us under a lot of pressure but Louis and Noah stayed strong. But Kirkham's pressure paid off and they were rewarded with a good goal. Henry dived to his right but couldn't stop it. Throughout the game Henry organised his defenders well and bravely dived on the ball to stop Kirkham's strikers. Joshua came on for Noah and Alex had a go at the back to replace Louis. Leon scored 2 more superb goals to bring his tally to 4 and Billy got on the score sheet for his second. Harrison continued on the left side, running non-stop and although he was brought down numerous times he still managed to supply great balls. Joel, the link up man, kept the passes flowing and hit the post; Billy followed up and scored his hat trick. Ben had some time upfront but didn't get on the score sheet today. With time running out Kirkham broke through again to score a great goal, a deserved goal for their effort. Final score 7-2. Brilliant.
Versus Fleetwood Gym 12 Dec 09 Lewis ran the show today, up and down the pitch, supplying the killer balls. He never let the opposition settle. Also brilliant support from the wings, Harry and Harrison who worked their socks off too, and both chipped in with a goal. Defence was solid, thanks to Louis and Michael and Goalkeeper Thomas. Josh and Kazek both played well coming on in different positions and both had a chance to get on the score sheet. Max couldn't miss today. Everything he hit went in. He scored with his left and the outside of his right foot. Brilliant 5 goal haul!
The 2nd game today was a battle field at times. The referee should have given a penalty to the other team late on, but unfortunately he didn't see clearly enough to make a decision. Sorry! The team were great. Leon had a first half battle with Mini. Mitchell nipped in with a goal and the forward players pressured Fleetwood Gym from the off. Two own goals later and we were 3 goals to the good. The constant attacking was causing lots of mistakes. Ben surged forward from midfield to round off a brilliant run with a great goal. The 2nd half was the Leon show. Billy, Joel, Joshua supporting him and letting him play freely. A superb display saw him hit the back of the net 5 times. With fast feet and silky skills, he broke through time after time. Billy running down the right wing worked tirelessly for the team and was unlucky not to score. Mitchell wasn't to be outdone and got a marvellous hat-trick with 2 second half strikes. Cameron was outstanding at the back today, clearing everything. Harry also had a great game, solid in defence. Henry made a great save and if it hadn't been for an own goal, would of had a deserved clean sheet. Two great games, two great results.
